.Principal’s Message
Ya-Tzu Chen

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! How was your summer? I hope each one of you have had a great and fulfilling summer break. Summer time passed by so fast. Are your kids ready for the beginning of the new school year?

In order to coordinate San Jose Unified School District’s year 2010-2011 calendar, we start school earlier than usual. Even as early as at mid-July, our staffs at the expense of their summer break were busy in preparing this school year’s operating tasks. Through some of our parents’ persistent effort to communicate with Leland High School, we finally secured the classrooms which are all located on the central campus and no longer used the rooms of C section, so that our students may have a safer use of space. Therefore our security patrols which were required three parents on duty from previous year were reduced to two. This undoubtedly reduced the load of our parents. I would like to thank our parents’ hard working. Because of their effort, we can benefit from it. Thank you all!

This year we have 26 classes with 19 teachers. Eleven of our teachers spent their summer participating in summer training camp, learning digital teaching , web page production, and the use of computer information to enhance students’ Chinese leaning in order to meet the e-world trend.

IT Department needs your cooperation. If your e-mail address has any changes, you may ask your class representative to inform the IT Department, or you come to the office yourself to update your personal information so that you may obtain the latest school information from IT through e-mail. In the future school will make use of the Internet to contact each one of you. We also would like to ask you to well make use of the school’s website to get the school’s latest information.

Besides the advertisement in our printed version of the first issue newsletter of each academic year, we also provide e-advertisement. Companies can put their logos on our school website’s front page. The logo can be linked to either the companies’ websites or their discount coupons. If you are interested in our e-advertisement, please direct inquiries to editor@sanjosechineseschool.org.

A form of consent to be photographed was distributed to all our students on the first day of school. We need your signature to agree school to photograph your kids and use the pictures for teaching, school publication, website or other purposes. Please turn in the form with your signature to the class teacher by Sept 18, 2010.

We are going to hold this school year’s first board meeting on Sept 11, 2010. All our board members and associate board members are requested to attend the meeting, and sign up a job to serve and build a happy and safe Chinese learning environment for our kids. In order to have better communication between school and parents, we would also like to request our class representatives to attend the meeting so that they can bring back the school’s decision-making message to their classes.

Finally, I would also like to once again proclaim the parents who have yet participated in school’s activities to join us. We need you and let’s work together to make a difference.
