I. Principal\x92s Office Report \x96 Ya-Tzu Chen & Eric Yang

v  Principal Report

o   We had a successful Carnival event and thanks to everyone involved.

o   The 1st place winners of Academic Contest would represent school to attend Academic Contest of the ANCCS (Association of North California Chinese School).

o   Chinese New Year Celebration was a big success.

o   On 3/13/2010, Class Representatives and Board Member job inquiries for next semester would be sent out and returned on 4/3/2010.

o   Teachers Appreciation Banquet was to be held on May.

o   Parent Opinion Form would be posted on the school website for parents to make comments and suggestions.

v  Vice Principal Report

o   We still needed volunteer for the position of Assistant Principal.

II. Operations Department Report \x96 Baozhen Xu

v  Teachers Appreciation Banquet was to be held at a restaurant this year.\xA0\xA0 Each class would contribute 20% of per class head count and Class Representatives should turn in class contributions to Operations Department on 2/27/2010.

III. IT Department Report \x96 Roger Lo

v  The school lost our 2nd website (www.sjcs-net.org) due to renewal notice was not received by IT.\xA0 Therefore, Parent Opinion Form would not be posted online.\xA0 Parent Opinion inquiries would be conducted in paper forms and to be delivered to classes today.

v  Class Representatives needed to turn in any email changes of the parents to IT Department for updated information from school through email.\xA0


 

IV. Academic Department Report \x96 Agnes Mak

 

v  Academic Contest

 

o   Thanks to all board members and parents for helping out for a successful event.\xA0 187 students registered, 147 competed with an 80% attendance rate.\xA0 We would send out 27 students to represent school and compete in ANCCS to be held on 4/3/2010.

o   Credit Transfer deadline was 4/24/2010 only for high school students.

o   70% class attendance was required for qualification. School would arrange 4 makeup classes for students who didn\x92t meet the 70% class attendance requirement.

v  Parent Opinion Form

o   Parent Opinion Form would be sent out today (2/27/2010).

o   Class Representatives should collect them and turn in by 3/13/10.

 

 

o   Class Room Teaching Observation was also to be conducted. Two parents would be sent to the class and do the teaching evaluation without informing in advance.

 

 

V. Discipline Department Report \x96 Tim Chen

v  The school was trying to move all C-section classrooms to the center of the school for the safety concern.

 

VI. Motions

v  All school messages should be sent to all Class Representatives because Class Representatives are the responsible contacts for any school messages.\xA0\xA0 Class Representatives would be responsible for all communications between school and the parents.\xA0

v  SJSC Soccer and Basketball teams would compete in Northern California Chinese School Athletic Tournament on 5/2/1010-5/3/2010.\xA0

v  Some of the Board members recommended school to setup Homework Center to help out the students\x92 homework.\xA0 The school had held Homework Center before without receiving sufficient support from parents and students.\xA0 Kahmin Teh suggested that school conducted a survey to see the level of support from parents and students.
